Birds at Sea

Birds that live primarily on the open sea are called pelagic birds. Their biology is very well adapted to living at sea because many of them require little if any fresh water to survive. Although most fly over expanses of ocean searching for food, there are also swimming pelagic birds, some having wings so short that they can only "fly" under water.
